I love living in "The Greatest
Little City in Florida" because it's where I grew up and has been
home for a total of 19 years. Venice is the best big (little) city
I've ever seen. There is a feeling of "home" and unity within our
town that is unique and special.
I moved here from Clarkston,
Michigan when I was twelve years old and have felt welcome from day
one. I attended Venice Area Middle School, and graduated from Venice
High in 1990. My roots are here in Venice and I can't imagine my
life somewhere else. Our city has SOMETHING to attract EVERYONE!
Whether you're a beach goer, a shopper, an athlete or you just enjoy
relaxing in a park under a big shady tree; Venice has it
all.
I am the proud father of two
beautiful, little girls, Taylor and Trina. They are ten and three
and growing way too fast! Most of my spare time is spent watching
them grow and hoping that I'm doing a quality job of providing them
the tools they need to become upstanding citizens. I am a member of
First Baptist Church of Venice. It is the big white church on Miami
Avenue, very hard to miss. I'd like to invite you to come and listen
to Pastor Tom Hodge at our 8:30 traditional service or the 10:30
contemporary service. I'll be at the 10:30 so say hello if you stop
in.
I started Living Memories
(video production) in January of 2005. I specialize in weddings,
photo montages (put to music on dvd), concerts and special events. I
worked for ABC 7 for almost six years and left there as the 6 and 11
o'clock director. I wanted to pursue a career that would enable me
to have more of a personal touch on people's lives. If you have any
questions or if I can assist you with your video needs I can be
contacted via e-mail at livingmemoriesvideo@comcast.net.
When I'm not with my girls
or working I enjoy playing softball at our wonderful facilities or
spending some quiet time at the jettys watching the waves crash over
the rocks. Venice has so much to offer if you just take a look. I
remember growing up thinking how horrible it was. As I got older
(and hopefully a little wiser) I quickly realized that you have to
sometimes seek out good times. With a little effort those good times
are abundant in Venice.
Thank you Venice and Thank you
Bruno.
Sincerely, Jeffrey T.
Hughes

Harvey Davis
Hello
from Harvey,
My
wife and I, with two children and a Golden Retriever, in tow,
arrived in Venice, sight unseen, in
January, 1996, after living in Jamaica, W.I. for three
years. Somehow, we must have sensed that Venice was a
very special place, as we cannot envision living anywhere else.
I am
presently a realtor for Michael Saunders & Co. and feel
privilege to work for such an outstanding, prestigious company that
is a leader in the real estate market. I was recently recognized by
Sarasota Magazine, as a Five Star, Best in Client Satisfaction Real
Estate Agent, in which fewer then 7% of all licensed real estate
agents in Sarasota area were selected.
Another
one of my passions is working with foreign exchange student
programs, which my wife and I have been involved in, for the last
eight years. Over this
time, we have worked with over 200 students and host families. It
has been extremely gratifying to see so many long-lasting
relationships formed between these kids and their host families. .
We are always looking for new and wonderful host families.
In
December, 2005, and opportunity arose for us to obtain a store front
on Venice
Ave. This opportunity allowed my wife to
fulfill her dream to open an upscale art gallery. Thus, Abbacino
Galleria was born! As an artist, with her BFA, from Moore College of
Art, she had a vision for the type of eclectic, upscale art gallery
that she felt would bring a sense of “Naples to Venice”. We have been very pleased
with the rave reviews and acclaims from our wonderful local artists
and customers, who have proclaimed “finally Venice has an upscale art gallery, on the level
of Sarasota and Naples”. We
are extremely proud of the many talented local artists that we have
in the gallery and hope that with continued community support we
will continue to grow and be involved in the great town of Venice.
Stop
by and say hello, Harvey

I think Venice is a wonderful place to live with its natural
beauty and quaint downtown shopping area. I love all of the unique
and interesting stores. We also have a wide variety of great
restaurants in the area. I feel very lucky to be part of this
community. It seems
that the rest of the world is catching on as well. Every year the
population increases. We have to make sure we keep the
pristine beauty we have within our
city.
